£39.99

The Capezzana estate, located 24 kilometers northwest of Florence, has been owned by the Conti Contini Bonacossi family for generations. Today, the younger generation leads the estate, with Filippo Contini Bonacossi overseeing olive oil production. Olive oil has been crafted at Capezzana since Etruscan and Roman times, with the earliest recorded mention dating back to 804 AD in a contract referencing the estate’s “vineyards and olive groves.” Historical records, such as the 14th-century diaries of merchant Francesco Datini, reveal that as early as 1300, olive oil from the Florence region—including Carmignano, Chianti, Rufina, and Calenzano—was renowned for its superior quality and commanded premium prices in cities like London and Bruges.

Capezzana’s estate in Carmignano is home to approximately 26,000 olive trees. Their unfiltered olive oil, crafted primarily from the early-ripening Moraiolo variety, delivers a refined, well-balanced flavor with notes of fresh-cut grass and artichokes.
